Our research focuses on global mine development for energy transition minerals. We develop scenario models of future mining to quantify risks to biodiversity and ecosystem services under alternative climate and energy futures. These models integrate global mineral resource data and biodiversity metrics to enable evidence-based conservation planning and project-scale mitigation measures. We also investigate the implications of disruptive industries, such as deep-sea mining, for current and future mines. Drawing on expertise in conservation science and environmental management, we aim to inform ecologically responsible mining practices that deliver positive outcomes for people and nature.
