Dr Lasinidu Jayarathna is a senior research assistant at the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences, University of Queensland. Currently, she is involved a research project on the global biodiversity impacts of mining materials needed to support renewable energy production, led by Dr Laura Sonter. She completed a doctorate degree in Spatial Sciences at the center for Agriculture and Bioeconomy, Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in 2021. Lasinidu also earned a BSc in agriculture and a MSc in Geo-Informatics from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. Her research interests include spatial data analysis and modelling, spatial statistics, land use mapping, satellite, and airborne remote sensing applications, and 2D/3D geospatial data generation and mapping.
